Heartbreakers 18u Elite Clinches Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat VA Glory

Heartbreakers 18u Elite nabbed the lead late in the game in an 8-4 victory over VA Glory on Saturday. Heartbreakers 18u Elite trailed 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning when Trista Hershey doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

VA Glory scored three runs in the first inning, but Heartbreakers 18u Elite still managed to pull out the victory. Garner, Deming, and Harris each drove in runs during the inning.

VA Glory got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run for VA Glory.
Asha Miller led the Heartbreakers 18u Elite to victory in the circle. The righty allowed three hits and four runs over six innings, striking out two.

Cochrane took the loss for VA Glory. The bulldog lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing four hits and one run while walking zero.

Kirby started the game for VA Glory. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits and walking one. Heartbreakers 18u Elite collected 15 hits. Sophie Zuckman, Kara Watkins, Miller, and Hershey each racked up multiple hits for Heartbreakers 18u Elite. Zuckman went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Heartbreakers 18u Elite in hits.
Deming led VA Glory with two hits in three at bats.
