Heartbreakers 18U Elite’s Mel Firestone Throws No-Hitter To Defeat CT Hurricanes

Mel Firestone was brilliant in the circle on Thursday, as she threw a no-hitter to lead Heartbreakers 18U Elite past CT Hurricanes 12-1.

In the first inning, the Heartbreakers got their offense started when Ryleigh Bolyard doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. In the bottom of the first inning, CT Hurricanes tied things up at one. The Heartbreakers pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Bolyard doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs, Lindsey Windsor reached on a dropped third strike, and Firestone’s sac fly scored one run for Heartbreakers 18U Elite.

Heartbreakers 18U Elite tallied five runs in the fifth inning. Firestone, Anabelle Stone, Haylee Wastler, and Kassidy Tobery each drove in runs during the inning.

Firestone pitched the Heartbreakers to victory. She went five innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out five. Ferrara led things off on the rubber for CT Hurricanes. She lasted two and a third innings, allowing five hits and five runs while walking one. Ramirez threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Heartbreakers 18U Elite collected 11 hits. Tobery and Bolyard all had multiple hits for Heartbreakers 18U Elite.
